I’ve not practiced since falling pregnant with my third child – almost 15 years ago (my how time flies). Ah, my friend, I feel you! I can offer you calming poses for the nervous system but my honest suggestion is that it does not matter what you do but that you do it. Take a ‘yoga moment’ each day for the next 2 weeks. Set a goal though to have your ‘yoga moment’ each day. Forward Folds are nice as they calm the nerves and offer a cooling wash over the body. Also- a seated or standing forward fold can be done almost anywhere and is a great pose for relaxation and introspection.
I have been really interested in learning about yoga and really can't afford to take classes, this is such a great alternative. The book was informative and helpful and felt like I was being taught by a friend. It was an easy read and had tons of great information. The poses are illustrated, but I would have love to see some full color photos of the poses actually being executed. The book covers the basics, poses, combos, everything that i need as a beginner. I didn't feel overwhelmed learning from this book. The author is a certified instructor and has other great credentials that made me feel confident she knew what she was talking about. I used this video to start doing some exercise again after stopping martial arts training, which I had done for over 30 years, I had over 12 months break and so this routine was ideal to reintroduce myself to some training and self-discipline. My wife and I did this for 7 days and then started to expand with some of your other routines. I currently get up at 6am on workdays to do my yoga practice, along with some Tai Chi. On days off I will spend longer and maybe have two sessions throughout the day. My wife struggles to practice every day due to shift patterns but is training when she can.

In his Niyamasara, Acarya Kundakunda, describes yoga bhakti—devotion to the path to liberation—as the highest form of devotion. Acarya Haribhadra and Acarya Hemacandra mention the five major vows of ascetics and 12 minor vows of laity under yoga. This has led certain Indologists like Prof. Robert J. Zydenbos to call Jainism, essentially, a system of yogic thinking that grew into a full-fledged religion. The five yamas or the constraints of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali bear a resemblance to the five major vows of Jainism, indicating a history of strong cross-fertilization between these traditions.[note 20]
