An intensely powerful pose, this one strengthens the muscles of the legs and arms. It builds your willpower and has an energizing effect on the body and mind. Stand straight with your feet slightly apart. Stretch your arms but don’t bend your elbow. Inhale and bend your knees, pushing your pelvis down like you are sitting on chair. Keep your hands parallel to the ground and back straight. Take deep breaths. Bend gradually but make sure your knees don’t go beyond your toes.

The class provides the underlying structure to help a student be able to eventually enter into a Jivamukti open class intelligently and safely. Beginners are encouraged, though not required, to take all four weeks in the same month for continuity. Intermediate and advanced students will also benefit from exploring the alignment essentials presented in these classes.
Water. The best way to practice is to drink enough water before the practice so that you do not need to drink water doing your practice session. Please try and refrain from bringing water bottles into the practice room.

In this 50 minute private session you will explore and deepen your understanding of yoga. The class is specialized for your exact needs and individualized for each new yogi. A slower class dedicated to learning the foundational poses, correct alignment, and basics of vinyasa (flow) yoga. There will be an emphasis on linking breath and movement while building strength, flexibility, and mindfulness.
