Lots of love -Joshualyn LEARN 03/21 at 6:34 am 02/17 at 8:38 am I really, really like this book, so much that I bought it in print as well as Kindle formats. This is a clear presentation of text and illustrations, respectful of yoga practice and traditions as well as the beginner to yoga. While I am not exactly a beginner, I am a seeker of information and insight and this book offers both in a very accessible way. My family owns a lot of yoga books and videos and we have a yoga teacher in the family and even so, I find myself happily turning to this book as a yoga companion. It is a terrific addition to the yoga library, print and/or video, and I highly recommend it. One more point about the illustrations: I love that they are clear and obvious for the pose, showing the body in a simplistic way that allows one to easily visualize the pose. They are line drawings but not stick drawings and so they are easy to "see." I also like that they are illustrations, not photographs because, as said, they really allow one to see the pose without distraction and with clarity. The book is very well organized, again showing respect and encouragement for the reader/practioner/learner. Well done, Cory Martin! With all my sincere praise for this book, I do hope that Cory Martin will produce a DVD of similar quality; it would no doubt be worth having, too. Communities According to the 2007 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), which included a comprehensive survey on the use of complementary health approaches by Americans, yoga is the sixth most commonly used complementary health practice among adults. More than 13 million adults practiced yoga in the previous year, and between the 2002 and 2007 NHIS, use of yoga among adults increased by 1 percent (or approximately 3 million people). The 2007 survey also found that more than 1.5 million children practiced yoga in the previous year. Approximately $58 to $100 per month. Yoga is not a religion, a cult or a belief system. At the root of yoga is self-inquiry. Everything we do, whether it’s a yoga pose, a meditation, a mantra or a breathing technique (pranayama), has the purpose of encouraging us to connect to our bodies and our life experience in a more meaningful way. For example, understanding the balance of effort and release in your yoga practice requires constant attention and sensitivity and has profound meaning in our everyday lives as a meditation on balancing stress and relaxation. Experiencing true relaxation is a deeply rewarding experience. And understanding how to move into extremely challenging poses effortlessly, with a calm mind and steady breath, is invaluable to us all in our busy lives.
