Since going on a bit of a journey, loosing my job, separating from my wife, then walking across Spain on pilgrimage in a bizarre attempt to get rid of my agoraphobia, I have been on a journey of self discovery – or rather, rediscovery. I got cancer last summer and beat that and am now becoming more aware of my body and its needs, along with that of my mind and whole being. I have wanted to take up yoga for so long and perhaps to incorporate it into my meditation, but have been too afraid.

The DVD is broken down into four parts: Warm-Up Sequence, Standing Poses, Sitting Poses and Restorative Yoga. You will need a yoga mat, pillow or blanket, belt or towel and a stuffed duffle bag or something similar. It uses most of the basic moves like downward dog, triangle, mountain pose, tree pose and a few more. There are no complex moves and no loud background noise. The video moves at a nice slow pace, maybe too slow for the advance people, and the instructor is easy to follow along. You will not have to constantly raise you head up or turn around. There are only one or two moves that some beginners might have a problem with, but after a month doing this DVD you have no problem. Unlike other yoga videos I have owned in the past, this is a true beginners one. Yoga For Beginners: Poses for Strength, Flexibility and Relaxation with Kanta Barrios gets an AAAAA+++++.

Section six discusses the importance and types of meditation to practice. Lastly section seven discusses specialty cases like yoga over 60 and yoga while pregnant. There is also an appendix with just illustrations as a reminder and a glossary of terms in case you get confused or need to refresh your memory. A great book for someone thinking about starting a yoga regimen.
