I love anatomy, and I have really enjoyed David Keil's anatomy book. I'm planning to start David Coulter's anatomy book soon. I'm learning so much, and it's really transforming the way I think about my body when I do yoga (and ride horses - my other great love!). You are not interested in applications of yoga philosophy You don’t want a book that focusses mostly on practical meditation techniques You find you learn better when there are good photos to look at Meditation, Psychology and Yoga Philosophy Don’t buy this yoga book if: You prefer more information on alignment within the poses All Yoga Classes (A to Z) | Privacy Policy | Terms of Service | Contact Us | Yoga Glossary | Subscriptions You like to learn about yoga philosophy and how they apply to practice You feel the way you do yoga now is fine My Journey to Plus Size (Full Bodied) Yoga H. David Coulter's Anatomy of Hatha Yoga is possibly the most comprehensive yoga anatomy book that exists. It reads, at times, like an anatomy or physiology text book, moving through an impressive detailed analysis of movement and posture, breathing and abdominopelvic exercises before taking that same approach to analyze standing poses, backbending poses, forward bending postures, twisting postures, headstand, shoulderstand and finishing with relaxation and meditation. It's a thick book (almost 600 pages) and extremely dense with information, which is guaranteed to satisfy the most dedicated anatomy nerd. Although it definitely wouldn't be considered an easy read, it is, for the most part, surprisingly accessible for the average person.
